Maryland Renaissance Festival

The Maryland Renaissance Festival was something I always wanted to attend and now we have been twice in the last three years. This year's festival kicked off today and it's children's weekend. Kids under 11 get in free. This is the 34th year of the festival. What I remembered from two years ago was the food, music, sights and photo opportunities. There is something different to eat no matter where you turn which is also true of the music. The faces and color is eye catching. I can't begin to describe the sights of the many people dressed up period clothes. I would love to go back for the Irish or Scottish weekends. Shirley has a deep Scottish family background and loves Irish music too.

TV Filming

A fun trip to Ocean City earlier in the summer had a down size. A henna tattoo that did not turn out so well meant a few visits to the doctor. To let others know, Shirley's daughter called WBAL, channel 11 and Donna Hamilton responded. The images were taken a few weeks ago as I waited for the piece to run on the news, which it did yesterday. Working in newspapers for over 34 years I was able to see a lot of TV people in action. Hamilton and her cameraman were very nice. They made the girls feel at ease (Hamilton brought the girls purses) and most important she listened. It is easy to see why she received one of the honors from Baltimore Magazine this year.
