Bird Watching

For those that follow my blog, you know that I like to photograph birds.  This is a collection of images taken over the past few months.  When I'm out watching hummingbirds, it's fun to keep an eye on the Blue Jays as they raid the cat's food dish.  The birds aren't alone as the squirrels and chipmunks also find their way to the dish.  We have a few feeders in the yard which attract a wide selection of birds.  The important thing is to have the camera handy to capture the visits to the yard.

Going Picking

The kids had a few days off from school last month.  So one of the days we headed to Westminster to go apple picking.  In Carroll County, when you say apples, you think of Baugher's and that is where we went.  The girls loved to pick the apples, but they love visiting the petting area more.  Shirley buys food for them to share with the animals.  Besides picking the apples, I enjoy the wagon ride to the orchard.

Hummers

We have a few hummingbird feeders around the house and it is great to sit outside and watch them.  This summer there are two that seem to always chasing each other.  One gets to the feeder and in a few seconds the other one show’s up to chase it away.  The fun part is looking around to find them setting in the branches.  They are about the size of a pine cone.  It will soon be time for them to head south and put the feeder away for the winter.

Views From Dover

Yes, I know it's been over a week since NASCAR visited Dover International Speedway.  Here are some images from behind the scenes and some shots from the K&N Pro Series East.  The first image was great to capture, former driver Dale Jarrett talking with Kevin Harvick.  Jarrett, who now works for ESPN was my favorite driver when he was behind the wheel.  Harvick's crew members take a break as they wait for practice to start.  The garage closed at 5 p.m. on Friday and it reminded me of a factory looking out.  Miss Sprint takes a photograph before qualifying started.  Most drivers have golf carts to get around the track, but not Morgan Shepherd.  Shepherd caught me off guard which is why I shot him from behind.  A couple years ago I got a picture of him roller skating.  Cooking for the teams.  A UPS man makes a delivery in the garage.  Ryan Truex talks with Ty Norris from Michael Waltrip Racing.  Ty Dillon like his brother in the truck series uses the #3 in the K&N Pro Series.  He is the grandson of Richard Childress.  A tool kit sits in the garage.  Trucks lined up in the garage.  The garage during practice at Dover.  An official gets an up close look at the K&N Pro Series Race.
