On the Bay

To reach the Atlantic Ocean and return to Baltimore we had to sail over a body of water, the Chesapeake Bay. I was looking forward to that part of the trip. I have fished in the Bay many times and crossed the Bay Bridge many times, but to see the length of the Bay from a cruise ship was right up my alley. I had figured out that we would hit the Bay Bridge around sunset. I knew that two lighthouses, Baltimore Light and Sandy Point Shoals are on the western shore of the Bay. They can be seen from the Bay Bridge and have shot them from there and Sandy Point. On the return trip I was looking for sunrise and the Bay Bridge and I was rewarded. I was able to get shots of the lighthouses with the moon and a shot of Annapolis from the ship. On the way down the Bay, Shirley kept saying we were going to be late for dinner, but I wanted the shot of sunset and a lighthouse. We were sitting in the dining room as we gilded under the Bay Bridge and my brother shot pictures through the window, of course so did I as you can see. I enjoyed the trip on the Bay even if it was cold on the return trip.

Garden Update

Good news, everything that I planted is breaking through the ground. It felt good seeing the plants reaching toward the sun. I usually plant potatoes on March 17, but the weatherman said there was a chance of rain today and again on Saturday. So, I planted the potatoes today along with broccoli, Brussels sprouts and Romaine lettuce. Now I hope it does rain. I plant at least one thing that I haven't planted before every year. Last year it was Swiss chard and this year it's Romaine lettuce. It is used in Caesar salad, which Shirley and Becca like a lot. Now if we can eat the veggies before the deer do. It's a race every year.

Freeport

The third stop on our cruise was Freeport on Grand Bahamas Island. Shirley and I were looking forward to this stop. She was going to swim with dolphins.  I was taking an excursion to bottom fish. We were leaving our cabin when I found out fishing was cancelled. I saw Shirley off on her excursion and then walked around taking pictures, listening to music and taking to people along with watching other cruise ships dock. We were in Nassau the day before (I will share some images from that stop later) and I found Freeport to be quite a contrast. It was cleaner and the people were friendlier than at Nassau. When Shirley returned, she was walking on air and as she says, she gets to take it off her bucket list. Now she wants to take the granddaughters to swim with the dolphins. I loved the color of the water.
