Bird Watching

One of the things Shirley and I like to do is watch our feathered friends. Everything from Robins to Bluebirds. As small as a Tufted Titmouse is, they are a thrill to watch them grab a peanut. We have feeders in front of the house which we can see from the window. They are fun to watch, especially when the squirrels show up. The furry fellows were adapt at emptying the feeders. So, Shirley kept her eyes open and came across some squirrel proof feeders. Now they climb over the feeders, but can't get the food. The squirrels are busy looking for food under the feeders, expect when Shirley puts peanuts out. One day, last week we watched one squirrel clean the plate of nuts before the others figured out what he we doing. We got to laughing as the other squirrels started digging to get the nuts he spent time hiding. Most of the images were taken around the yard in the past week. The owl was out back about a month ago, the rest were in the front yard. Last year, we took part in the Great Backyard Bird Count. This year's count is set for Feb. 18-21.
