Last Week

The past week saw the temperature go up and down and speaking of down, boy did the rain fall at times. Especially Saturday evening as a front went through. The weather kept me from covering sports, so I was itchy to take pictures. So out into the front yard I went and shot the the Bradford Pears and flowers. I saw the moon rising while shooting the blooms on the Bradford Pears and aimed my camera that way. The granddaughters have wanted snowballs, so Sunday after dinner when headed to their favorite snowball stands. While they got their tasty treats, I shot the cross on a church with the sun going down. A visitor from last year returned this week. A chipmunk makes his way into the bird feeder, but try as he may, the squirrel can't get to the food. Most of the birds let the chipmunk alone. Not a bad week with my Nikon.

April Showers

They say April showers bring May flowers. If that is true, we are going to have a lot of flowers next month. We seem to have rain every other day. The rain has helped the garden, which I planted almost a month ago. Everything is up and raising their leaves for the sun, when we see it. The images were taken in the morning on the way to get the paper. The temperature yesterday was in the 80s and the Bradford Pear trees seemed to bloom over night.

In the Spotlight

I love to shoot plays. I like the challenge of the changing light and the movement on the stage. In some ways its like shooting sports. Friday I saw part of the Liberty play Aida at Unity Day. I shot a few images which appear on eldersburg.patch.com. Saturday we, Shirley and family headed north to Gettysburg. We had two nieces appearing in a production at the Adams County School of Musical Theatre. It was our first visit to the theatre and it was quite enjoyable. The girls were taking part in "Once on This Island.'' The cast did a great job, as they performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Next up for the theatre is "Camp Rock'' in June followed by "Kids on Broadway'' and "The Jungle Book''. There are other shows through out the year including one of my favorites, "Oliver''. Folks usually got to Gettysburg for the history and outlet mall, now I suggest you try out the theatre at 49 York Street in Gettysburg. There is more information at www.acsmt.org. Normally you can't shoot pictures during a production, As a professional they allowed me to take some images, as I don't use flash. I don't like to use a flash unless I have no choice for light. Don't forget after the production to meet the cast and get autographs.

Garden and Spring Weather

The calendar says it's Spring, but look out the window and Mother Nature is saying not yet. I thought I posted this earlier, so sorry for the senior moment. I got my Spring plants and seeds in the ground before Old Man Winter made a return. We got a trace of snow Sunday and I made a trip around the yard. The lawn ornaments had a coating of ice in them, which was sprinkled with snow flakes.There were a few flakes on a tulip leaf and the vehicles had a dusting of white.  I liked the reflection on the windshield with the snow flakes. I shot the front and back windows as both offered different looks. The forecast for the next two days is rain and snow.
