Squirrel Tricks

Sitting here this morning with my cup of tea watching the great outdoors with the cat. Sometimes the squirrels look like a cross between Rocky J Squirrel and Secret Squirrel. (quick who was his sidekick and who was his archenemy?) I see this squirrel go up a tree and say to myself, no, he didn't do that. So I watched him or her closely the next time up the tree. We have bird feeders that are squirrel proof until today. There is a feeder on the tree that birds get food by sitting on the perch. The squirrels are to heavy to make it work. So anyways the squirrel runs up underneath the feeder stops and bumps it with his heads and the food comes out, which you can see in the image. Then back down the tree to eat what they have gotten out of the feeder. One time he chased crows away from the food. We have a heated bird bath in front of the window and Sam, the cat sits there and watches the squirrels and birds get a drink. By the way, Secret Squirrel's sidekick was Morocco Mole and the archenemy was Yellow Pinkie.

End of Summer

Labor Day weekend always marked the end of summer when I was growing up, so I thought I would share some images from the warm months of the year. The pools would close and we would start school on Tuesday(okay, that was 40 years ago).  The sunsets seem to be perfect for the end of the season, as the sun setting ends the day and Labor Day ends the summer. I love the squirrel, he looks like he is ready to fight. He was looking for peanuts that Shirley threw out for the birds. Some of the images of the sun and clouds remind me of Sunday church bulletins. The color foam on the windshield is from a car wash, where the granddaughters love the foam. I will keep my eyes open for more images before summer turns to fall, but already my mind is searching for scenes of autumn. There is one spot on River Road I plan to capture when the leaves start to turn. All of the images were taken in Carroll.

Last Week

The past week saw the temperature go up and down and speaking of down, boy did the rain fall at times. Especially Saturday evening as a front went through. The weather kept me from covering sports, so I was itchy to take pictures. So out into the front yard I went and shot the the Bradford Pears and flowers. I saw the moon rising while shooting the blooms on the Bradford Pears and aimed my camera that way. The granddaughters have wanted snowballs, so Sunday after dinner when headed to their favorite snowball stands. While they got their tasty treats, I shot the cross on a church with the sun going down. A visitor from last year returned this week. A chipmunk makes his way into the bird feeder, but try as he may, the squirrel can't get to the food. Most of the birds let the chipmunk alone. Not a bad week with my Nikon.
